National Collection Holders' Conference 2016

The first Conference in 16 years for National Collection Holders took place on 23 November at RHS Wisley, with over 100 attendees. Collection Holders and local Collection Co-ordinators travelled from all over the UK to exchange ideas, share best practice, and learn from expert speakers in plant health, conservation, taxonomy and plant breeding.

Medal sweep for National Plant Collection exhibitors at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016

Three first-time National Plant Collection exhibitors, with their displays of Echium (from the Macaronesian Islands), Hakonechloa cultivars and Fuchsia (bred by James Lye), have received 2 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. In total, 31 Medals were awarded to Plant Heritage’s National Collection Holders for their hard work with Hogarth Hostas and Peter Beales Roses each receiving an additional prestigious Floral Award.

There are two new Iris Collections bringing the total number to 20: one celebrating plants from a noted breeder, and the first ever Iris Collection to mark plants bred in a particular town.
