Distribution in the wild: Endemic to Cyprus

Flowering in the wild: April-June

cypria means of Cyprus.

Evergreen shrub 50-150 cm. Leaves ovate-oblong or oblong-lanceolate, dull green above, greyish or yellowish  stellate tomentose below, 2-7 × 0.5-3 cm; petiole 0.5-2.5 cm. Floral leaves subsessile and smaller. One or two whorls, many flowered. Bracteoles adpressed, obovate or rhomboid-obovate 7-12 × 3-7 mm.  Calyx tubular, 13-15 mm, 6-8 mm wide at apex, hairless except for a dense zone of yellowish or whitish hairs at the mouth. 10 veins; teeth 2-2.5 mm. Corolla pale yellow.  Nutlets glandular-papillose at apex.

Grows on sunny limestone hillsides

Leaves shortly and broadly oblong, 3 - 4 × 1.5 - 2 cm, whitish or greyish tomentose, with a rounded or very obtuse, broad apex.

Ann. Musei Goulandris 6:93 (1983)

Grows only on igneous & serpentine hillsides in the south of the island.

Leaves narrowly oblong,  3 - 7 × 1 - 2.3 cm, often yellowish tomentose, tapering to a narrow, obtuse or subacute apex. Hardy to -10°C.
