Waddow Lodge Open Garden

Garden Open Day

The garden will be open for NGS from 13.00 to 17.00. Entry will be £3.50 for adults but free for children. Tea/coffee and home made cakes will be on sale and there will be a plant stall with a proportion of sales donated to Plant Heritage. See the website for directions - Waddow Lodge is a plantsman's garden developed over the last six years on organic principles around the Georgian house with distant views to Pendle Hill and the Forest of Bowland. It comprises large island beds of perennials and shrubs with rose borders, alpines in troughs and raised beds, Alpine House and heated greenhouse and cold frames, woodland garden, shade garden plus a small heritage orchard. There is also a kitchen garden with vegetables and soft fruit, a lower garden planted with 60 trees for the Jubilee Plantation in 2012, plus an ongoing bog and wild garden together with a pond.
