Sedum, Hylotelephium, Phedimus and Rhodiola
Mr Ray Stephenson
Brickell Award Winner 2007
Ray has published over 200 papers in Botanical Journals. He maintains his herbarium specimens in collaboration with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and has sent 140 species to Vladivostock University for DNA sequencing. Field trips have included Anatolia in Asian Turkey, Portugal, Crete, FYR Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, USA, Cyprus and Corfu. Ray considers that these field trips to observe plants in their natural state are very educational and help him to replicate the conditions they need to thrive in Northumberland. Ray has also been Chair of the Sedum Society for over 20 years, and editor of the Sedum Society Newsletter since 1991.
