Local media and locally oriented “What’s On” websites
Most local newspapers, magazines, radio stations and on-line listings websites have "What's On" sections to which you can add events in aid of charity for free. If you ring the news desk with a well-prepared précis of your event (Date, time, entry fees, parking, disable facilities, refreshments, items of special interest, entertainment, contact details and so on) and an explanation of what Plant Heritage is all about, you may also be able to persuade a reporter to cover the event or write a ‘teaser’ for it.
Find free listings websites by googling: “what’s on” + your county
Local government and tourism agencies are hungry for events to draw visitors to your area and will have website listings and possibly also free newsletters or magazines. It is also worth asking the tourism offices to display flyers in their Tourist Offices promoting your event.
