Education and Research

Plant Heritage has always had a serious interest in horticultural and botanical education. The growing shortage of skilled individuals to be the taxonomists, botanists, herbarium staff and propagators of the future is of serious concern to the future of plant conservation in the UK.

  • The Growing Heritage Action Plan for the conservation of cultivated plants arose out of a conference held by the RHS, Plant Heritage and other bodies concerned about the future of garden plants.

  • The Plant Heritage Speakers List, which gives details of people who will give talks on National Plant Collections, Plant Heritage or plant conservation is currently being updated. If you would like to be included on the next list, please complete and return this form

  • Many of our Collection Holders have published booklets, monographs and contributed to scientific research. A small selection of publications is available in our Shop
