A year ago in December 2010, Mercy Morris (Plant Conservation Officer) and Nicola Savage (PR Officer) resurrected the Plant Heritage 'blog'. It wasn't long before Gillian Spencer (Membership) joined in, posting her lively reports on her visits to collections and collection holders, accompanied by her striking photographs.

The Garden Media Guild is the leading national organisation for gardening and horticulture journalists and holds an annual awards ceremony in December covering the various media from newspapers, radio and tv to 'new media'.  Unknown to Gillian, Nicola and Genevieve Melbourne Webb (Plant Heritage's Executive Officer) entered the Blog for the Awards and singled out Gillian for the New Talent category.

Imaging her surprise when Jo (Fund Raising) rang from the Awards lunch to say Gillian's name was up in lights as a finalist in New Talent ! Well done Gillian and carry on posting!
