What is your favourite plant? It may be a small alpine plant, a perennial, shrub or tree. You may grow it in your garden, maybe it’s a plant in someone else’s or perhaps it’s one plant that stands out from all the others in your Collection. As the plants in your garden slowly emerge from their winter dormancy and the garden visiting season starts get out your camera and photograph 'My Favourite Plant'.
'My Favourite Plant' is the subject for the 2011 Plant Heritage National Photographic Competition organised by the Surrey Group. We have decided to publicise the subject earlier in the year so that you have more opportunities to photograph the plant you love. For example a tree which looks good with its spring flowers, a shrub with its brilliant autumn foliage or a pot plant. The choice is yours.
All members can enter the competition, just submit a print, colour or black and white, with a maximum image size of A4. The entries must be the entrant’s own original work and must not have been previously published anywhere. A copy of the full rules and an entry form will be published in the autumn edition of Plant Heritage or is downloadable by clicking on the link below. The closing date for entries will be in March 2011, but entries can be submitted at any time with a completed entry form.
The winner of the 2010 competition has been chosen and will be announced at the National AGM in May, where all the entries will be displayed. Surrey Group would like to thank those members who entered this year’s competition.
