Hello again from the Plant Exchange team in the North East, with the usual appeal to all of you to send us your wants and offers!
Here is a brief reminder of what we need, and when, but please ask if you would like any further advice. (If you are new to Plant Heritage, there is some additional information about the Exchange available by following this link:
Plant Heritage Plant Exchange - distributing rare plants).
The critical dates will be as usual :-
October 31 2010 Last date for ‘Wants’ and ‘Offers’ lists to arrive here
December 1 2010 Collated lists sent to you. Posted on website shortly afterwards.
February 28 2011 Last date for ‘Bids’ and ‘Supplies’ to arrive here
March 20 2011 Final lists returned to you
We will keep the criterion of not more than TWO listings in the latest (2010-2011) Plant Finder – the one with a dahlia on the cover. This is also on the RHS website, and is very easy to search; using just the cultivar name will give you all the details. Of course this includes any plants with no entries, and any which were once listed but no longer appear. Please identify any requests for National Collections, as these have priority.
The
‘Not Found’ list of plants which were requested this year, but could not be supplied, is now posted on the Plant Heritage website. It would be good to have offers of any of these. ALL requests are welcome, whether accompanied by offers or not.
The actual exchange of plants will take place at the 2011 AGM, hosted by the Sussex group. Details and a booking form will be in the next ‘Plant Heritage’.
In this year’s exchange, 21 groups shared almost 1000 plants. The magic four figure mark is in sight……
Finally - something for you all to consider, please.
2011 will be the tenth Exchange coordinated by the North East group, and we feel it should be our last. It's time for a new group to look at what has been done so far, and come up with some new and revitalising ideas.
Please think about this seriously, and contact me for more details if anyone in your group is interested.
Looking forward to hearing from you and your group
Best wishes
Jen
