Short-lived perennials
Noel Kinsgbury has been researching the life spans of perennial plants with the help of experienced gardeners, on behalf of everyone who has had disappointments with plants that died after a couple of years, or took ages to establish, or self-seed aggressively.
He has already amassed some interesting data - his 10 plants most frequently reported as being short-lived are:
Echinacea purpurea and hybrids
Achillea interspecific hybrids
Aquilegia vulgaris and cvs
Achillea millefolium cvs
Monarda hybrids
Knautia macedonica and cvs
Dictamnus albus and cvs
Anemanthele lessoniana
Aster x frikartii 'Mönch'

The research is on-going and Noel would appreciate contributions from anyone who can add to the knowledge base he is building. Contact Noel on noel@noelkingsbury.com
