Chair of the Surrey Group:
"I joined because my friend Rosemary told me to. She's is a true plantswoman - has run her own nursery, been a gardener and designed gardens - so I followed orders!
What's great is that Plant Heritage groups have a mixture of the knowledgeable, the keen but less knowledgeable and novices, and they're all interested in plants and gardens. What could be better than that?
I've learnt how to propagate plants, been transported to far-off places by talks on plant hunting and learnt, through a DNA lecture, why the botanists change the name of plants. And then there are the behind-the-scenes visits to gardens..."
