Introduced in 1932 by J.T. West of Tower Hill, Brentford (UK) who was also known for his contribution to breeding cactus dahlias originating with his 'Beauty of Brentwood' introduction.
‘Princess Marie José’ is a single flowered satin-pink dahlia cited in Landscape & Garden (1936) as deserving special mention as a dwarf dahlia.
