Distribution
in the wild:
Endemic to Turkey, in pine woods, steppe, dry limestone rocks,
schist slopes, corn & fallow fields at 800-2350 m.
Flowering in the wild: June–August

Closely
related to P. linearis Boissier & Balansa
and P. angustissima Huber-Morath, which see.
Forms a low growing hump of small narrow grey leaves.
Non-glandular
herb 20-60 cm. Woody base. Basal leaves ovate-oblong to lanceolate
and linear-lanceolate, obtuse to sub-acute, cuneate at base,
stellate-tomentose, indistinctly crenulate at margin, 2-10
× 0.8-2 cm; petiole to 7 cm. Floral leaves linear-lanceolate
with a short petiole or stalkless. Two to five distant, upper
congested, whorls per stem with 4-10 flowers each. Bracteoles
subulate, 3-10 mm, stellate-tomentose. Calyx 13-17 mm, stellate-tomentose,
teeth lanceolate, acuminate, 4-6 mm. Corolla yellow, 25-36
mm. Nutlets hairless. Hardy to -10°C.
