Distribution in the wild:
Endemic to S. Italy, on garigue, sea level-300 m.
ferruginea means rust-coloured and refers to the stems.
It has been reported from Sinai and Crete, but incorrectly.
It is a little bit like a small P. fruticosa with rust coloured
stems. Rare in the wild.
Evergreen shrub 40 -100 cm. Whorls 12-16 flowered. Bracteoles
linear, ciliate, 8-10 mm. Calyx with teeth 1-3 mm.
