Pterocactus megliolii Kiesling

 

Colour photograph of this species which is from a limited area around San Juan, Patagonia.

Stems grey-green with closely packed, woolly areoles and short spines. Flowers large (3-4 cm in diam.), pale, pinkish yellow with red stigma. A real gem that should be grown more widely in cultivation.
