Hypericum calycinum (Hypericaceae
family according to APG II although they don't seem very sure about
it) (common name Rose of Sharon) comes from the Bulgaria and Turkey.
Flowers up to 4 inches across and stems up to 15 inches. Excellent
ground cover, but tends to be a bit of a thug with its runners.
Adds some very showy flowers over a long period to shady areas,
even under trees. May lose some of its leaves in severe winters.
