Ferula
communis (Apiaceae family), the 'giant fennel'
comes from the Mediterranean area. It has wonderful 18"
finely divided leaves and the yellow flowers (seen above)
are in umbels some 3" across. The flower stem may grow
up to 15 feet but more normally 6-10 feet. If
left to seed it may die.
