Needs
ground moisture in the spring to initiate growth. New to
the collection and has not yet flowered. It is slow in growth.
Herbaceous perennial 30-50
cm. Lower leaves lanceolate, 10-14 × 3.5-6 cm, petiole 4-5
cm; floral leaves 5-6 × 2.5-3 cm, upper side scattered stellate
and monoradial hairs, lower side stellate-hairy. Four to
five whorls (on short peduncle) per stem which is covered
in stellate-tomentose hairs. Bracteoles mostly patent or
reclinate, 20-25 mm, thick at base, spinescent, stellate-hairy.
Calyx tubular-campanulate, 10-11 mm; teeth 3-5 and 8-10
mm long and stellate hairy. Corolla lilac-pink, 15-17 mm.
Nutlets virtually hairless.
