Douglas Smith

Dr Douglas James Smith trained in Physiology and Biochemistry at Southampton University before obtaining a Phd in Physiology/Endocrinology. He started his career as a Research Physiologist at the Institute of Naval Medicine in 1974 where he remains still as Business Director on a part time basis. Previously he held appointments with a number of NATO Research Study groups.

Additionally Dr Smith runs a family business as a trader in essential oils, flavours and aromatic chemicals. He joined Plant Heritage’s Hampshire group in 2000 and is now their Chairman. Douglas lives in Hampshire’s Meon Valley where he is the owner of Meon Orchard Gardens.
