Strathclyde Group


The Strathclyde Group meets regularly during the winter (September to April) at The Coach House, Greenbank House, off Flenders Road, Clarkston.  For the full programme of Wednesday evening events click on Group Events on the left.

At the winter meetings the entrance fee, which includes refreshments, is £3 per lecture for Plant Heritage members and £4 for non-members.

Visits to gardens are made in the period May to early September.

National collections in the Group's area, which runs from West Central Scotland up the west side of the country, include Nothofagus held by NTS Crarae; Narcissus held by Kate and Duncan Donald at Inverasdale, Poolewe; Rhododendron subsects. Glischra, Maculifera and Barbata, and Olearia,  held by Kevin Ball at Inverewe NTS; Begonia and Dicksoniacea , held by Ewen Donaldson at Glasgow Botanic Gardens;  Echeveria, Graptopetalum and Pachyphytum held by Mike Ambler at Armadale, Skye; Abies held by Peter Baxter at Benmore Botanic Garden, Dunoon; and Bergenia, held by the NTS at Greenbank Garden, Clarkston.
