Brother UK Bursary results announced

Plant Heritage is delighted to announce that a staggering 16 National Plant Collection holders have been awarded bursaries this year.
The Bursary given by Brother UK, provides money and plant labelling machines to Collection Holders and is judged and awarded by a panel of horticultural experts. The bursary is invaluable to helping National Collection holders carry out important conservation work. Without the work of the National Collections many cultivars would have been lost.
Now in its fifth year, around 45 Collection Holders have benefitted from the Brother Bursary – a total sponsorship figure of £9,000 which has been kindly supported by Brother UK Ltd.
Speaking on the announcement Head of Category Identification at Brother UK, Mike Kelly said, “Making funds available to support the efforts of Collection Holders is very rewarding. This ensures that money is spent on core projects, and not just on promoting Brother labelling products via our sponsorship of Plant Heritage.”
Plant Heritage Fundraising Officer, Joanna Jones, said she was overwhelmed by the number of applicants and standard of entries: “With such an excellent amount of collection holders receiving a bursary this year, many more National Collections can benefit from this financial support thanks to Brother UK” she said.
