Kent National Collections on Show at Walmer Castle

We are delighted to announce that a number of its Kent-based National Collections will be represented at the Blooming Gardens event at Walmer Castle this weekend.

The Plant Heritage Kent group has teamed up with English Heritage and the 2014 Chelsea Fringe Kent to celebrate the county’s gardens in a weekend event at the Castle. With something for families, kids and gardeners alike, visitors will have the opportunity to take part in garden talks and tours, given by experts. Families can take part in the giant garden games, painting, and kids’ plant potting and discover the hidden secrets on the Garden Trail.
Plants representing The National Collections of Lavandula, Rosmarinus, Fuchsia, Geum, Humulus lupulus and Eucalyptus, all based in Kent, will be on display at the Plant Heritage stand, which is situated in the main marquee. Children will be invited to take part in our competition, which will run throughout the weekend and group Chairman Jude Lawton will be speaking about the charity and its Collections on both days.
Speaking about the weekend Jude said the group was delighted to be attending the event and hopes this is the first of many more.
Blooming Gardens will take place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June from 10-5pm at Walmer Castle, Kingsdown Rd, Deal, Kent, CT14 7LJ. Entry is free to English Heritage members, adults £7.90, children £4.70, concessions £7.10 and families £20.50. For more details please visit:
