Plant Heritage welcomes two new Trustees

Plant Heritage, the leading cultivated plant conservation charity is pleased to announce it has recruited two new Trustees to its Board: Raoul Curtis-Machin and Brian Young.

Raoul Curtis-Machin has been Head of Horticulture at the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) since 2013 having worked at the National Trust for a number of years.

Talking about his appointment, Raoul said:

“I am honoured and delighted to be invited on to the Plant Heritage Board. It’s an exciting time of change for the charity and I hope to contribute to the ongoing success of its plant conservation work.”

Brian Young of Holmes Farm Plants is Chairman of the Plant Heritage Ayr and Arran Group who have won 4 consecutive Gold medals and one Best in Show at the Ayr Flower Show. 

Commenting on his appointment, Brian said:

“I’m delighted to join and I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the board and Plant Heritage staff, committees and members. Great foundations have been laid by past board of trustees and council and I hope to build on the key values and strengthen the Plant Heritage parameters for plant conservation into the future. Together we will make a huge difference.”

Chief Executive, Sarah Quarterman, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Raoul and Brian to the Board. With their wealth of horticulture knowledge and experience, as well as understanding of the Horticultural Trade, we welcome the contribution they will be able to make to Plant Heritage through serving on the Board of Trustees.”
